NUTRITIONAL VALUES
The labels on the nutritional value they give us information on the type and quality of nutrients present in a food product.
Are useful information in that our body needs to take all the nutrients in the right proportion.
Nutrients are very important as they perform specific functions in the body.
Although the law does not require to disclose the nutritional products for sale, Goldgel decided to provide its customers all the information needed to make a choice and informed consumption.
Such information is shown on each bowl of gelato. To indicate the amount of nutrients are used grams.
Goldgel has chosen to indicate the amount of nutrients per 100 grams of product in order to simplify understanding the consumer of those nutrients actually takes.
The amount of energy provided to us by food is conventionally measured in kilocalories or simple calories.
To better understand what this means one must understand that our bodies consist of a continual flow of energy through the input of protein, carbohydrates and fats and the consumption of these same elements to maintain proper bodily function.
Balance is the key, too much energy intake causes weight gain and not enough energy intake causes loss of weight and instability in internal health.
Daily energetic needs are calculated on a person to person basis depending on factors such as: age, sex, weight, height and daily physical activity.
Our bodies need protein and the amino acids within them.
Proteins are essential in repairing critical parts of our body such as muscles, blood and antibodies.
Our immune systems and the enzymes that maintain them are rich in proteins, therefore making them an essential factor in a healthy immune system.
Proteins are responsible for creating necessary amino acids that our bodies cannot produce on their own.
Ideally speaking, proteins should make up 15% of our daily caloric intake.
Simple carbohydrates, also known as sugars, are nutrients that are digested easily and quickly by the body and generally have a sweet taste.
Simple sugars include fructose, fruit sugar and lactose sugar.
On average, sugars contain 4 kcal per gram and 10% of these calories are used by the body to aid the processes of digestion and nutrient absorption.
Simple sugars should contribute only 10-15% of the daily caloric intake.
Fats are important nutrients in our bodies that are used to help us grow and develop into adults.
They are also useful in protecting you from low temperatures and essential in the creation of important hormones and soluble vitamins which are transported and used all throughout the body.
However, overconsumption of fats can lead to obesity, weight gain and cardiovascular diseases.
They should therefore be consumed in moderation.
Fats should contribute only 25-30% of the daily caloric intake.
SUSTAINABILITY
An enviromental policy was studied by Goldgel to create a control system that affects all the phases of the production process, the packaging and the distribution of Elite's Gelati.
Because of this we are able to tell our clients what results have been achieved and how we went from theory to facts.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The choice of raw materials has depended on a careful selection of suppliers for years.
Together we invest in the quality and sustainability of materials, respecting the rhythm of seasons and eliminating pesticides and harmful chemicals.
REDUCE THE QUANTITY OF CARBON DIOXIDE IN OUR PRODUCTION PROCESSES
We have implemented technical improvements such as a thermal recycling system and an heat loss reducing system to allow us to decrease the level of energy consumption.
We use renewable energy sources like the 800 sq m of solar panels that produce about 20 kw per year significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
REDUCE WASTE TO OPTIMIZE PRODUCTION
We constantly monitor the effectiveness of our production processes to prevent wasting the raw materials.
REDUCE CO2 EMISSIONS AND MILEAGE
To reduce CO2 emissions and mileage we prefer, when it’s possible, to select products from Italian suppliers. For road transportation we choose partners who use low-emission vehicles and truckload shipping.
